“Celebrate Holidays Around the World at International Fair 2017!”
Knox College students from around the world will showcase diverse food, culture, and entertainment as part of the 36th Annual International Fair. The theme for the 2017 International Fair is “Holidays: Celebrate Around the World.”
The traditional cultural showcase, booths, and international buffet will take place on Saturday, January 28, 2017, on the Knox campus in Galesburg, IL.
The Saturday events, which are open to the public, include:
Booths
12:30 to 2 p.m.
Ford Center for Fine Arts lobby
Fun and educational, the cultural exhibits are organized by Knox students and student organizations. Admission is free.
Flag Parade & Cultural Showcase
2 to 4:30 p.m.
Ford Center for Fine Arts, Kresge Recital Hall
Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free.
Food Fair
5 to 7:30 p.m.
Seymour Union
Foods from different countries and cultures are prepared and served by students. Price is $8 (free for kids 5 and under). Students with a meal plan can use a meal swipe. After paying, everyone will receive a wristband, which is required for entrance to the Food Fair.
Pre-purchase Wristbands for the Food Fair: Wristbands to the Food Fair may be bought online and in advance through the evening of Thursday, January 26, at www.knoxalumni.org/IFair. Individuals who pre-purchase wristbands should print their receipt and exchange the receipt for wristbands at the International Club table during the Booths Fair or during intermission of the Cultural Showcase on Saturday, January 28.
Purchasing Wristbands at International Fair: Wristbands to the Food Fair will also be on sale (cash only) at the International Club table during the Booths Fair and during intermission of the Cultural Showcase, and at the door of the Food Fair.
Those with pre-purchased wristbands may enter the Food Fair from the Lincoln Room entrance. Those who need to purchase a wristband or students who need to swipe their meal card at the Food Fair should use the Hard Knox Cafe entrance.

*Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan: Chhwela (Spiced Grilled Chicken), Kashmiri Tea (Pink Tea) – vegetarian, gluten free
*China: Gui Lin Mi Fen (Gui Lin Rice Noodles), Zhen Zhu Nai Cha (Bubble Tea) – vegetarian
*Colombia: Bunuelos (Colombian Fritters) – vegan, gluten free
*India: Falooda (Cold Dessert) – vegetarian
*Japan: Okoynomiyaki (Cabbage Pancakes)
*Korea: Kimchi-jeon (Kimchi Pancakes) – vegan, Bulgogi (Beef marinated in soy sauce) – gluten free, Sikhye (Rice Dessert Drink) – vegan
*Kosovo: Tulumba (Fried Pastry with Syrup) – vegetarian, Musakë (Moussaka) – gluten free, Flija – vegetarian
*Mexico: Posole (Hominy Soup), Bunelos (Fritter) – vegan, Gorditas de Rajas, Frijoles y Chorizo, Aqua de Jamaica (Hibiscus Tea) – vegan
*Nigeria: Beef Suya (Beef Kebab) – gluten free, Chicken Suya (Chicken Kebab) – gluten free, Chin Chin – vegetarian
*Philippines: Puto (Rice Cake), Filipino Pancit (noodles), Filipino Chicken Adobo – gluten free
*Russia: Buterbrod s Krasnoy Ikroy (Open-faced Sandwich with Red Caviar) – vegetarian, Grechnevaya Kasha (Buckwheat) – gluten free
*Thailand: Pad Thai – vegan
*United States: Candied Yams – vegan, gluten free, Slap Yo’ Mamma Sweet Potato Pie – vegetarian, Greens with Ham Shanks – gluten free, Boss Roby’s Fried Chicken
