The 3rd annual “Day of Stuffing” will be held at the Kroger located at 801 W. Lake Ave. in Peoria, IL. Part of the Stuff-A-Bus food drive, this event is held to encourage donations for the 29th annual campaign that benefits the food pantry at the Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service.
The pubic is asked to bring donations, or purchase items at Kroger, and place the items on the classic 1975 CityLink bus. Several area businesses and organizations that have hosted food drives at their office to benefit Stuff-A-Bus are invited to drop off their donations on Friday, November 18, 2016.
Representatives from CityLink, the Peoria Friendship House, the Amalgamated Transit Union #416 and volunteers will be at the store beginning at 6:00 a.m. and continuing throughout the day until 6:00 p.m., accepting food donations. Donated items will be loaded on to the classic GP Transit (CityLink) bus in hopes of making a significant contribution to the goal to collect 13 tons of food and overstuff the bus.
Here’s how people can help fill the bus:
*Pre-bagged items will be available at the event for purchase from Kroger in increments of $3, $5, and $10. Purchased bags will be placed directly on the CityLink bus.
*Cash donations will also be accepted.
*Shoppers can also select other non-perishable items to purchase as they shop. Suggested items include:
*Baby Food, Diapers; Canned Meats; Tuna; Soups & Stews; Beans; Cereals; Macaroni & Cheese; Canned Vegetables & Fruits; Whole Grain Rice or Pasta
Peoria Chiefs’ mascot, Homer, will also make a special appearance from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m
