Florida’s first African-American nominee for governor Andrew Gillum will be the keynote address at the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Luncheon to be held Monday, January 20, 2020 at the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, IL.
Doors open at 11am, and Gillum will give the keynote address at 12 noon.
The luncheon is hosted by the City of Peoria’s Public Employees for Community Concerns. The group consists of African-American city employees who joined together to try to enlighten the community.
Luncheon tickets are $50 per person and tables of 10 can be purchased for $500.

Following his run for governor, Gillum was honored as one of the Ebony Power 100 and named a 2019 Resident Fellow at the Institute of Politics (IOP) at Harvard Kennedy School.
He was the first in his family to graduate from high school and college.
