As snow and ice fall, sometimes we do, too; injuries are more common during the winter due to the dangers of walking in tough weather conditions.

This time of year, slipping and falling can sometimes seem inevitable.

All of the snow and ice requires people to be on high alert when merely walking.

Chiropractors recommend taking small steps and spreading your feet so you maintain balance.

Experts also say you should always give yourself plenty of time when walking somewhere, stay on designated sidewalks, and use handrails when using stairs or entering or exiting buildings.

Chiropractors also suggest having something as simple as a good pair of boots.

Chiropractor, Dr. Michelle Rickelman says,

“Wearing proper footwear to work, and then changing your shoes while you’re at work would be a good thing to do to hopefully prevent slipping and falling,”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends you keep your hands out of your pockets, because you need your arms for balance especially if you fall.

It’s also important to be aware of your surroundings when walking and always take it slow.
