The Pike County Sheriff’s Department has received several calls within the last twenty-four hours regarding citizens being called and solicited for their Social Security number and credit card information.

Pike County Sheriff David Greenwood would like to remind residents to never give out personal information over the phone.

If you receive a letter in the mail asking to call a number and during that call you are asked to provide personal information, DO NOT provide it!

The only time you should ever provide personal information to anyone over the phone is when you initiate an unsolicited call.

As with any fraud complaint, if you are a victim, report it to your local law enforcement agency.
