According to the National Weather Service In Lincoln, IL & WEEK-TV, there is a Wind Chill Watch in effect from Tuesday evening through Thursday afternoon for all of Central Illinois.
Wind chills are expected to reach near -40° to -50° on Wednesday.
High temperatures will be around -10° to -15° on Wednesday afternoon.
These Wind-Chills are Life-Threatening type of conditions. Frostbite can happen within 10-15 minutes with wind chills -40°. Please take precautions come Wednesday.
The weather outlook is as follows:
Monday-
Temperatures will sit steady in the middle 30s (during the early morning hours) and then drop into the middle 20s by the midday. Flurries and spotty freezing drizzle will impact the late afternoon commute until dry air takes over the forecast through later this evening.
Monday Night:
Clearing & cold overnight temp will fall just below 0° with wind chills well below 0- 10 below.
Tuesday through Thursday-
Skies will stay cloudy and cold into Tuesday & Wednesday; temps will be in the middle to higher single digits for a high on Tuesday; cold and clear with temps low around -18, cold and frigid for Wednesday, temps will be -10 to -15 below. Thursday, 40%-60% chance of snow showers, high will be 9 above, with the overnight low of 6 above.
