“Get Ready, Get Ready, Get Ready For IHSA Football Coming To Chambana Land!”
Just to name a few, high school teams like Peoria Notre Dame, Bloomington, Urbana, and Champaign St. Thomas More, will play football at University Of Illinois’ Memorial Stadium coming this Saturday!
Peoria Notre Dame’s football team is among eight teams that will play a 2018 regular-season game on Saturday, September 22nd at Memorial Stadium in Champaign, IL.
The Irish will meet Big 12 Conference opponent Champaign Centennial at 10am to start the four-game lineup, which includes two Big 12 games and two Illini Prairie games.
Olympia will play Tolono Unity at 1pm, Bloomington will oppose Urbana at 4pm and Champaign St. Thomas More will meet Rantoul at 7pm.
According to a press release from the University of Illinois, tickets for all games are $5 and will be sold on game day at the west side doors of Memorial Stadium. All seating will be on the west side of stadium.
Parking will be free, and tailgate parking will be allowed in the State Farm Center lots and Lot E14. Parking lots will open at 8:30am and doors to Memorial Stadium will open at 9am.
Fans may also use Grange Grove for tailgating opportunities, but alcohol will not be allowed in this area.
U of I officials contacted each Champaign County high school that sponsors football and had home games scheduled on Friday, September 21st to gather interest on the opportunity to play at Memorial Stadium.
Four schools moved their games to the following day to play at the stadium. The facility became available after the Big Ten Conference chose to play the Penn State at Illinois game on Friday night.
