WVEL News Scope Now: Two Kroger Stores In Central Illinois Area Are Set To Close

Newsline: Kroger stores are setting to close in Lincoln And Decatur, IL.

Kroger’s Central Division made the announcement Thursday that the store located at 1475 Woodlawn Road in Lincoln and the store at 1401 W. King Street in Decatur will close.

The company said the decisions were due to poor financial performances, as said in a press release.

According to WICS-TV, the store in Lincoln’s lease is expiring and both stores plan to close by the end of this month.

For Decatur Kroger customers, they will still be able to shop, fill prescriptions, and get fuel at other Kroger stores in the area on Water Street and 1st Drive.

Lincoln’s Kroger store has 76 employees that will be affected and the Decatur store has 95 employees.

The Kroger Human Resources Department will be available to current employees at both locations to help prepare them for the transition.
