Springfield community members say there was something missing in their state capitol, something for the children. They say it only took a mob of frustrated parents to realize that a children’s museum was missing.

“Everyone from our board is from Springfield or at least a surrounding area and we all have children and we were really frustrated that we had to drive to either Decatur, Peoria, Chicago, St. Louis…Bloomington to find a quality educational learning facility for kids,” said the president of Kidzeum of Health and Science Rachel Thomson.

On last Saturday, the Kidzeum of Health and Science had their grand opening and had hundreds of community members joining all the fun.

The museum has many cool activities for children of all ages and even adults. The focus of the museum is to educate children about the human body, dentistry, and meteorology. Thomson says the focus is on the children and to expose them to all types of careers and even help them be physically active. She says many kids suffer from obesity according to studies and her team wanted to create something different and fun for the children.
