Area law enforcement are cracking down on traffic enforcement during the Independence Day holiday week, focusing on drunk driving and unbuckled drivers.
More than 150 local police and sheriff’s offices across the state are joining the Illinois State Police in the effort.
Police recommend giving your designated driver the keys before heading out, finding a safe way home if you are drunk or otherwise
impaired, reporting drunk drivers promptly by calling 911, and making sure everyone in the vehicle is wearing a seatbelt.area
