The popular travel planning and booking site TripAdvisor announced the winners of its Traveler’s Choice Awards for continental United States landmarks.

Landmarks named in TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice Awards are determined by an algorithm that utilizes the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for landmarks worldwide by travelers who have previously visited each site. TripAdvisor calculates ratings over a 12 month period, from 759 landmarks in 68 countries around the globe.

According to Brooke Ferencsik, senior director of communication for TripAdvisor,

“For travelers thinking about anchoring their trips with a visit to an iconic site, there’s no better starting point than a site from the Travelers’ Choice award winners.”

This years top 10 U.S. Landmarks:

1. Alcatraz Island – San Francisco, CA

2. Golden Gate Bridge – San Francisco, CA

3, Lincoln Memorial – Washington D.C.

4. Grand Central Terminal – New York City, NY

5. USS Arizona Memorial – Honolulu, HI

6. Empire State Building – New York City, NY

7. Statue of Liberty – New York City, NY

8. Brooklyn Bridge – New York City, NY

9. Biltmore Estate – Asheville, NC

10. Cloud Gate – Chicago, IL

Illinois’ very own Cloud Gate made the list at number 10. Cloud Gate is an architectural art piece provided by British artist Anish Kapoor as his first display in the United States,
