Jobs may be moving to Bloomington as State Farm announces the closure of 11 facilities and impact on 4,200 employees across the U.S.

According to week.com, the insurance company announced last week that work will begin to move to Bloomington, IL as well as offices in Atlanta, GA, Dallas, TX,  and Phoenix, AZ as facility closures begin in 2018.

Mary Schmidt, executive vice president and chief administrative officer said in a press release,

“We understand the decision to exit these facilities directly affects our employees and their communities. While the exits will begin in 2018 and continue over several years, we are announcing this decision now in order to give employees time to make personal and professional decisions. The company will continue to have a strong local presence in these communities through our agents and local claims employees.”

The facilities closing next year are in Parsippany, NJ and Petaluma, CA.

Facilities in other cities, including those in Indianapolis, IN, West Lafayette, IN, and Downers Grove, IL. are scheduled to close in 2020.

The company said the decision to close the facilities was made due to the “changing needs” of their customers and streamlining their technology and other processes. State Farm employs 70,000 people.

Affected employees will be offered jobs at other State Farm locations.
