We have been blessed to experience mild temperatures so far this season, but winter weather can show up any time in central Illinois.
According to cinewsnow.com, last month in Peoria, IDOT (Illinois Department Of Transportation) launched a campaign to make sure everyone is prepared to take on winter roads.
They say the best safety measure is to stay off the roads altogether, but if you do venture out, take precautions.
Acting Operations Engineer Greg Svoboda says,
“Stay away from the snow plow, it’s a big piece of equipment with limited visibility; and stay off your cell phones.”
He also says it is especially important to educate young drivers who have not experienced winter roads behind-the-wheel.
