Early voting is moving along in the state of Illinois, and there has been a pretty strong turnout so far.

According to cinewsnow.com, in Peoria County alone, more than 5,000 people have already voted as of last Wednesday.

The executive director of the election commission said on last week that almost half of those votes were in the previous two days.

“We’ve had early voting for 10 years, so I think we’ve got a lot of voters who are used to it,” said Tom Bride, Executive Director of the Peoria County Election Commission. “They’ve been early voting. Once they start early voting, they like it; and for a lot of reasons. You know, they’re done with it, they can move on, they don’t have to listen to it anymore. We get that a little bit.”

Don’t forget, election day is next Tuesday, November 8th, and same day registration will be available for most Illinois voters.
